Rawls Springs House fire under investiagtion

A fire in the Rawls Springs community is now under investigation after authorities have deemed the blaze suspicious.

Multiple departments including Rawls Springs, North Forrest, and the Hattiesburg Fire Department responded to the fire at 859 Pitts road in the early hours of Monday morning. When emergency responders arrived on scene, the house was fully-involved.

Local investigators are working with the Mississippi State Fire Marshalls office to investigate the fire further, due to the indications of it being suspicious in nature.

    The Jones County Sheriff's Department arrested two suspects after a second church in the area was burglarized on Monday morning.  Surveillance footage of the Indian Springs Baptist Church showed a white male and white female break into the church and steal an undetermined amount of cash.
