Two women in Richton are making sure that their town is involved in the fight against ALS.
Videos of people taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge have taken over social media and awareness spreads each time a video is posted. According to the ALS Association, $94.3 million have been donated in less than a month.
Amanda Burnett and Alexis Walley of Richton were inspired by the videos they saw posted online and decided to make their own. After their co-workers agreed to take part, they decided to take it one step further.
"We went and talked to all the businesses and everyone jumped onboard with us," said Alexis Walley.
"There's no treatment, no cure, no good prognosis with it," explained Amanda Burnett. "We felt like it was something we needed to do."
Almost every business in town has agreed to donate a certain amount per employee and the school has pledged money as well. The date for the challenge has been set for September 27th.
