A new collaborative effort is bringing an established physical activity and healthy eating program to 6,000 elementary school students across the state and hundreds in the Pine Belt.
The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi, Subway restaurants and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Mississippi have announced that they are teaming up to bring "Just Have a Ball" assembly programs to fourth and fifth grade students across the state.
The presentations, which last about one hour, consist of interactive discussions on healthy eating, followed by high-energy demonstrations of several movements with a ball and other sports equipment.
At the end of the event, attending students receive a playground ball of their own.
The programs will be held at selected schools in Hattiesburg, Laurel and Sumrall in October.
