BREAKING: Columbia police officers resign amidst investigation

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

The Columbia Board of Aldermen unanimously accepted the resignations of two police officers at a special called meeting Wednesday morning.

Lieutenant Richard Pack and school resource officer Jose Oatis resigned from Columbia Police Department, but no reason for their resignation was discussed in open session among the board. The board was in executive session for one hour Wednesday discussing these personnel matters.

District Attorney Hal Kittrell said this is an ongoing investigation through the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Kittrell confirmed that no children were harmed or involved in the issue at hand concerning the officers.

Mayor Robert Bourne said he hoped to fill these positions as soon as possible.

Sources said there are other officers involved in this case.
