Crime alert issued in downtown Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A crime alert has been issued by the Downtown Neighborhood Association about an armed robbery in the 300 block of East Huntington Street in Savannah Monday night.

Officials say at approximately 9:15 p.m., there was a report of an armed robbery in the 300 Block of East Huntington St. The victim reported being approached by 4-5 males. One of the subjects was described as 5'1 in height and had a dark complexion. This person was armed with a gun and was reported to have pointed the gun at the back of the victims.

The suspects fled the scene. Officers were able to stop someone in the area immediately after, but the victim did not identify this person as a suspect.

Anyone with information should contact authorities.

    A child was injured on Friday evening after an accident on a ride at the South Mississippi State Fair in Laurel. Fair representative Pam Holyfield said that a little girl was on a ride called "Up, Up and Away" when the seat on the ride came loose and the little girl fell out of the ride.  The fall knocked the girl unconscious, according to the little girl's mother. The child was taken to South Central Medical Center in Laurel where they are awaiting test results. ...
