SEMINARY, MS (WDAM) - Miss Mississippi High School America for 2014 Alexis Carter of Hattiesburg took her anti-bullying message to students at the Seminary Attendance Center Monday morning.
Alexis recently was fourth runner-up in the Miss High School America pageant in Orlando. Her national platform is The Crown C.A.R.E.S, which stands for creating a respectful environment in schools. The goal of the platform is to promote awareness and teach tolerance for a safe and bully free environment to school age children.
"Being dyslectic I was bullied because I was different," said Carter. "Four out of five of my family members are dyslectic so I know how important it is to get across to children not only not to bully, but don't bully someone just because you don't know what's going on in their lives and just because there's something different about them there is something wrong."
Carter's personal platform is bringing awareness to dyslexia.
