HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Work on a sewer is line is finally coming together after a construction company sued the Hub City.
Hattiesburg's city engineer Lamar Rutland said the city has hired two out-of-town construction companies to replace a sewer line along Providence Street near the Hercules Plant.
"The city's role is to make sure it gets done," said Rutland, who said Shows, Dearman and Waits was hired to do project oversight.
The project is being carried out by Arcadis and Utah, two separate construction companies. This project is a continuation after the original company, Precision Construction, could not complete the project due to alleged failures by the city, which resulted in a pending lawsuit.

The road is still closed to traffic. No word on when the project will be completed.
