TYLERTOWN,MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Dept. of Transportation, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, local elected officials and school administrators teamed up Friday at Tylertown High School to demonstrate the dangers of failing to wear car seat belts, while honoring a local student who was killed in an auto accident just two weeks ago.
They hosted an MDOT rollover demonstration. It featured a specially-modified pick-up truck simulator with a cab that can spin at 35 mph.
During the demonstration, Several cloth dummies were ejected from the vehicle, showing what can happen if passengers don't buckle up.
The event was organized following the death of Jashun Carpenter, a 15-year-old Tylertown High School student who was killed in a one-car accident on a Walthall County road on Aug. 9.
