Laurel mayor signs Alzheimer’s Awareness proclamation

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Mayor Johnny Magee signed a proclamation Thursday declaring September Alzheimer’s Awareness Month for the City of Laurel.

Mayor Magee urges all citizens to learn the facts about the disease and become advocates by helping to move the Alzheimer’s Association's cause forward.

“It means a lot to the health care industry that our mayor supports this campaign to educate people about Alzheimer’s,” said South Central Behavioral Health Services Donna Bailey. “It gives us an opportunity to provide the services that we offer to help people that struggle with this disease.”

Comfort Care Nursing Center in Laurel will celebrate the Alzheimer’s Awareness Month on the 19. They invite all residents to attend the purple event.
