LAKE OROVILLE, CA (KNVN/NBC) - Dry conditions have triggered a spike in the freshwater jellyfish population in Lake Oroville.

The appearance of jellyfish in Lake Oroville is not completely unheard of, but they are sporadic and unpredictable.

Water officials say the freshwater jellyfish are not a cause for concern. Their stingers are so small, they don't seem to be able to penetrate human skin, and there haven't been any reports of people injured by the jellyfish.
