Covington County woman arrested for shooting into occupied dwelling

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Covington County woman is out of jail after posting a $5,000 bond Tuesday.

According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, Rachael Girault is charged with shooting into an occupied home. Investigators said it began Sunday with a domestic dispute on Blueberry Lane that involved Girault and her boyfriend.

Investigator Scott Gable said the woman was asked to leave her boyfriend's home, but returned back Monday and fired six shots at the home after she couldn't get in. Girault was arrested three hours later at her home in Covington County.

"Three of the bullets actually went through the laundry room into the back bedroom and one of the bullets lodged into the bedroom wall and one bullet actually went all the way through the house through a window into the back yard," said Gable. "The homeowner's sister was actually there cleaning, doing some house cleaning. She actually called 911 and hid into a closet and waited until we got there."

According to Gable, the homeowner's sister was not injured. He said Girault did not think anyone was at home when she fired.
