CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) -

Camp Shelby will soon offer some high-tech computer training that will set itself apart from other military facilities in the country.

In September, the post will host courses in a Linux certification training academy.

Camp Shelby will be the first military installation in the nation to do so.

Linux is a computer operating system that runs almost 97 percent of supercomputers in the world, including those for the military, scientific research and major corporations.

Camp Shelby is one of eight sites nationwide offering the training.

Other locations include Los Angeles, upstate New York and Kansas City.
