SYLVA, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A Saturday morning fire destroyed a two-story building in downtown Sylva and closed down sections of two downtown streets, according to city officials.

Dispatchers said the fire broke out inside the old Hooper's restaurant building at 500 West Main St. just before 6:30. The building housed Trevalino's Restaurant and one other business. Both were destroyed in the blaze, with several others suffering fire and smoke damage. No one was injured.

Eight fire departments responded and battled the blaze for nine hours.

Police said an investigation revealed the fire was electrical in nature.

Local officials have condemned several buildings along Main St. as a result of the fire.

Sylva Police said road and foot traffic in the area has been re-routed until the area is deemed safe.
