Southern Miss athletics news release
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- University of Southern Mississippi Director of Athletics Bill McGillis announced today that Co-head softball coaches Kirsten Voak and Jon Malgradi have resigned their positions. A search for a permanent successor will begin immediately.
Voak and Malgradi were hired in August 2011 and led Southern Miss to an overall record of 49-106 and 18-51 in Conference USA during their three seasons at the helm of the program. The Golden Eagles were 22-31 overall and 10-14 in Conference USA in 2014. The 22 wins were the most for the Southern Miss program since 2010, and the team's 10 conference wins were the most since 2009.
"Our time at Southern Miss has been one full of pride, hard work, and excitement of positive times that occurred and positives that are in the horizon," Malgradi said. "Kir and I would like to thank our amazing student athletes. We are so very proud of their accomplishments and what lies in the future for them as athletes, students, future professionals, and young women."
"We appreciate Coach Voak's and Coach Malgradi's service and commitment to Southern Miss and the women in our softball program," McGillis said. "They brought tremendous passion to the university and worked tirelessly to advance our program. Coach Voak and Coach Malgradi are leaving a strong foundation for future success, and we wish them the very best as they move forward."
