LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A nursing home resident was hit by a converted school bus, now used as a Bullitt County Public Schools maintenance vehicle, according to an attorney for the school district.

"My understanding was that the individual stepped or leapt into traffic purposely," Attorney Eric Farris said.

The incident occurred Friday August 15 at Highway 44 and Maple Street near Bullitt Central High School.

Two Bullitt County Public School employees were on board the bus traveling westbound on Highway 44 when a resident of the Colonial Nursing Home jumped in front of the bus at Maple Street, according to Farris.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office says the man died of his injuries.

Farris said the maintenance workers on the bus weren't injured.

It's another accident scene neighbors said they've seen before.

"There's been three or four accidents recently three and maybe one or two fatalities because of people crossing back and forth. I don't know what the solution is, maybe a red light or something," neighbor Ed Royalty said.
