Victim identified in Russell neighborhood fatal shooting

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Jefferson County Coroner's office identified the man who was shot and killed in the Russell neighborhood Tuesday.

The coroner's office said Donald Dorsey died after being shot at a home in the 500 block of Dr. W.J. Hodge Street. MetroSafe reported the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Aug. 12.

Dorsey did not live at the address, but knew the residents of the home, Deputy Coroner Cynthia Curtsinger said. She said Dorsey was shot inside the building, but managed to leave through the front door and died outside.

Dorsey, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:08 p.m.

On Tuesday, MetroSafe said officers were looking for a suspect who fled on foot.
