S.W. Perry Co. residents upset about road conditions

PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Some residents in southwest Perry County are angry over the condition of some of their roads and they're demanding that county officials do something about it.

Some folks who live on Taylor Drive say poor maintenance of their road and nearby Tower Road has caused damage to many of their vehicles. They say they've asked supervisors to take care of the problem, but little has been done about it.

"We're the forgotten ones, I guess you could put it," said Steve Thieman, a resident of Taylor Drive. "It makes me mad, just simply mad. If you can take care of some people's roads and not touch other people's, I mean do something," he said.

Dist. 5 supervisor Lanny Mixon says he's aware of the issue and is working on it. He said resurfacing work was done on a portion of Tower Road two years ago and more will be done as funds become available.

He said Taylor Drive was scheduled to be resurfaced this summer, but the county never received bids on the project. It has now been pushed back to next Spring.

He said he's willing to meet with concerned residents to talk about it.
