Chase ends with Pine Belt woman behind bars

COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Tuesday night police chase that ended with shots fired in Covington County has a Pinebelt woman behind bars and charged with multiple felonies.

Teerica Jeffries, 22, was given a $210,000 bond by Seminary Municipal Court Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney during her initial appearance Wednesday morning.

Jeffries was charged with felony eluding, and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer. According to authorities, Jeffries ran from officers in Forrest County and eventually wrecked along Highway 49 in Seminary.

According to officers involved, Jeffries allegedly used her car to strike a police officer, leaving officers no choice but to fire at the vehicle in efforts to stop the pursuit.

Jeffries was out on earned release supervision from the Mississippi Department of Corrections from a 2012 child neglect charge in Perry County.
