HOUSTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

A suspect in numerous vandalism cases in the Dothan area is being charged with additional crimes, says the Houston County Sheriff's office.

Wednesday, Dothan resident Derrick Edmond Davis, 23, and two juveniles, a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy, both of Taylor, were arrested and charged with three counts of first degree criminal mischief for multiple vandalism incidents in the Rehobeth area.

Thursday, the sheriff's department added second and third degree criminal mischief charges to Davis' list of alleged crimes after connecting him to damage caused at Rip Hewes Stadium, the Doug Tew Community Center and Northview High School  on August 8.

All three suspects are being held on $5,000 bonds.

It is because of vandals, that children at the Building Blocks Development Center in Taylor did not even have a chance to enjoy their brand new playground equipment.

"We just tell them that somebody did something bad to the playground and we need to stay inside," said Danna Jacobs, owner of Building Blocks.

Vandals also struck the Taylor recreational park. Pentagrams, satanic sayings and vulgar words were spray painted on the park pavilion, baseball field dugouts and Building Blocks playground equipment.

"I'm very disappointed that the kids, I mean the town, of Taylor has done so much for the kids to have somewhere to hang out and it's very disturbing that someone would destroy and vandalize it," said Jacobs.

The Houston County Sheriffs Office says in the last four days, several churches, schools, and private properties in the Taylor and Rehobeth areas, have all been vandalized.

The targets include Rehobeth Elementary School, Rehobeth High School, Rehobeth Baptist Church, Taylor Assembly of God Church, Taylor Baptist Church, Taylor Recreation Park,Building Blocks Development Center and a mini storage business.

"What we do ask is if they see anything, don't take action themselves but call law enforcement agencies and let us come out," said Captain Antonio Gonzolez. "What we want is a very good witness, and that witness can get us a real good tag number or description of the vehicle or the person and that's the most crucial thing for us."

The cleanup process has already started. The city estimates the property damage cost them more than $1,000 and the daycare believes the damage will cost them close to $5,000.
