Jones County man wanted for aggravated assault on officer

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to assist them in locating George Lee Hosey, Jr.

Hosey is wanted in connection with the August 6 narcotics investigation that resulted in an assault of a law enforcement officer.

Investigators said they were in the process of extricating Hosey from his vehicle when he fled the scene and struck one of the officers.

According to police, Hosey left the scene at a high rate of speed, heading west on 11th Street.  Hosey’s vehicle was later located crashed into a tree near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 11th Street.

Officers from the Laurel Police Department and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department searched the area for several hours after the incident, but were unable to locate Hosey.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of George Lee Hosey, Jr. is asked to contact the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 601-425-3147.
