Auburn Police ask for public's help in identifying robbery suspect

The Auburn Police are asking for the public's help inidentifying a suspect who robbed a business on Opelika Rd. Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Officers responded to the call at around 4:48 p.m. Tuesdayafter being informed that someone entered the business armed with a gun anddemanded money from the clerk.

The suspect fled the business with an undetermined amount ofcash and a cell phone.  The clerk was notinjured during the incident.

The robbery was captured on video surveillance. Police saythe suspect appears to be a light skinned black male between 25-35 years ofage, about 6'1" and weighing about 185 lbs. He was last seen wearing a greenshirt, blue jeans, a blue baseball type cap and gray shoes.

Police encourage anyone with information on the identity ofthe suspect or the investigation to call them at 334-501-3140, or call the anonymoustip line at 334-246-1391.

    The City of Hattiesburg warned its residents about an email scam making its rounds on Tuesday.  "Today, a Hattiesburg resident made city officials aware of an email scam regarding parking tickets," read the email from the city.  All tickets issued by Hattiesburg's Parking Division are paper and will not be delivered electronically, according to city clerk Kermas Eaton.
