Montgomery daughter accused of stealing from elderly parent

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A Montgomery woman is under arrested and charged with deceiving her elderly parent by allegedly taking more than $3,000 from their bank account.

Court documents show 51-year-old Debra Knight is accused of using deception to obtain unauthorized control over the victim's debit card and check book. It wasn't immediately known if the victim is her mother or her father.

Knight is said to have then used the cards and checkbooks at various ATMs and banks around the city, walking away with $3225 that was not hers. The incidents are said to have happened between June 21 and July 12.

An arrest warrant was issued and Knight was taken into custody. She is being charged with theft of property, criminal possession of a forged instrument and financial exploitation of the elderly.

She is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
