Jones County Sheriff's Department officers donate blood

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The United Blood Services mobile unit was parked outside the Jones County Sheriff's Department Tuesday, August 5, giving officers and residents an opportunity to donate blood. According to Britny Holmes, Donor Care Supervisor, there's usually a drop in donations during the summer months.

"We especially need more blood during the summer months because there's more people traveling and more accidents," she said, "Giving blood really does save lives, so it's very important to come out and donate."

The Jones County Sheriff's Department exceeded their goal of 19 units of blood.
