The Texas Rangers are continuing their investigation into the death of a Cass County man who died last week of an apparent gunshot wound fired by a sheriff's deputy.
Departmental policy required that Deputy Johnny Baily be put on administrative leave, but Monday he was back on patrol.
Last week Baily was trying to serve felony warrants on 33-year-old Charles Alver Jones Jr. when the shooting occurred.
Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe was unable to say Monday just what took place, until the Rangers complete their investigation.
Baily has been with the department for just over one year.
