CLEVELAND (CNN) – An urn holding the ashes of DJ Alan Freed will be removed on Monday from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

Freed is credited with coining the phrase “Rock ‘N’ Roll” and he helped put Cleveland on the map by playing rhythm and blues records on his radio show in 1951.

Freed’s son tells CNN the museum is being “disrespectful” to his father’s legacy.

Museum director Greg Harris says Alan Freed will still be represented in the museum.

Instead of his urn, the display case will hold a pair of Freed’s microphones.
