Southern Miss continues fall camp in August heat

After a cool start to fall camp, the sun reared it's head this morning at the Joe P. Park practice facility.

The Golden Eagles practiced in pads for the first time this fall, continuing their quest to the opening game of the season against Mississippi State, August 30.

The summer heat can weigh heavy on players and challenge their mental toughness, but head coach Todd Monken said that can't be an issue.

"We can't ever be that way. That's what I tell our team. It's easy man. It's easy to go to church on Sunday, harder to live the life. Easy to talk about being a great player and competing. Harder to live it. That's just the way it is."

Southern Miss has their first two-a-day practice scheduled for Wednesday.
