Three Hattiesburg schools adopted by West Point Baptist Church

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Three Hattiesburg schools were adopted for the upcoming school year by the West Point Baptist Church.

Sunday morning the school principals from Long Leaf Elementary, N.L. Burger, and Rowan Elementary each received $1000 to help offset the teachers back to school costs. In past years West Point adopted one-school to help for the school year. This year that number was increased to three. They do it to show their appreciation for they job the teachers do in the classroom.

"We really believe that it is important that our classrooms are filled with not only quality teachers, but also encouraged teachers," said Pastor Marcus Cathey, West Point Baptist Church. "We thought this small token would be beneficial in letting teachers know that they are going back to school this year with our support, not only the church, but the community as well."

Pastor Cathey personally acknowledged and thanked each of the teachers in attendance at the services.
