HPD: Armed robbery suspect sought


One suspect is still atlarge and two people are behind bars after an armed robbery, hit-and-run andpolice pursuit ended in a man hunt late Friday night.

Jaymar Booth is consideredarmed and dangerous and is being sought by authorities.

Booth is wanted inconnection with an armed robbery where according to Hattiesburg Police he worea animal print mask, displayed a silver pistol to a victim and demanded moneyin the 200 block of Unetta Street in Hattiesburg. The report states that boothstruck the victim with the pistol, forcibly took the money and fled.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler, after fleeing from thescene of the armed robbery, Booth and two other suspects were involved in atraffic accident near Hardy Street and 38th Avenue, where a handgunwas displayed and they fled the scene.

Lamar County deputiesdeployed a spike-strip during the pursuit with Hattiesburg Police and stoppedthe stolen vehicle near Lincoln Road and Old Highway 11 intersection.  

Gerald Barnett, 18, andDaniel McNair, 17, and Booth fled from the vehicle towards a wooded area. Barnett and McNair were taken into custody by HattiesburgPolice and Lamar County Deputies. Barnett and McNair are charged with armed robbery and receiving stolen property.
