HPD: Armed robbery suspect sought

One suspect is still at large and two people are behind bars after an armed robbery, hit-and-run and police pursuit ended in a man hunt late Friday night.

Jaymar Booth is considered armed and dangerous and is being sought by authorities.

Booth is wanted in connection with an armed robbery where according to Hattiesburg Police he wore a animal print mask, displayed a silver pistol to a victim and demanded money in the 200 block of Unetta Street in Hattiesburg. The report states that booth struck the victim with the pistol, forcibly took the money and fled.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler, after fleeing from the scene of the armed robbery, Booth and two other suspects were involved in a traffic accident near Hardy Street and 38th Avenue, where a handgun was displayed and they fled the scene.

Lamar County deputies deployed a spike-strip during the pursuit with Hattiesburg Police and stopped the stolen vehicle near Lincoln Road and Old Highway 11 intersection.

Gerald Barnett, 18, and Daniel McNair, 17, and Booth fled from the vehicle towards a wooded area. Barnett and McNair were taken into custody by Hattiesburg Police and Lamar County Deputies. Barnett and McNair are charged with armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

Officers are continuing to saturate the area in search of Booth. If you have any information contact Hattiesburg Police at 601-545-4971 or Metro Crimestoppers at 601-582-STOP.
