Auburn's Marshall, Mincy won't start in season opener

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

Auburn held its first practice of the season Friday, and head coach Gus Malzahn has some big news when he talked to the media after practice.

Quarterback Nick Marshall and defensive back Jonathon Mincy won't start in the season opener against Arkansas. Malzahn didn't say how long Marshall and Mincy will be out of the game.

Mincy was arrested on June 27 in Henry County and charged with second degree possession of marijuana. He has since been accepted into a pretrial diversion program.

Marshall was cited in Reynolds, GA, for possession of marijuana less than one ounce on July 11.

Malzahn also announced Friday that offensive lineman Alex Kozan will miss the entire season after having back surgery.
