Wayne Grand Jury returns 87 indictments

WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Wayne County Circuit Court Grand Jury has returned 87 true bills for the month of July. One of the indictments returned is a murder case involving Christopher Bishop, 41.

Bishop was arrested in April after his girlfriend Carla Gray was found shot inside the home they shared. Gray was pronounced dead at Wayne General Hospital. After searching the house, police also uncovered other firearms not related to the shooting and about 15 grams of crystal meth. Deputies charged Bishop with murder as well as possession of crystal meth with intent to distribute.

Bishop is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Lauderdale County to try and get his bond lowered.

Out of 87, there are more than 40 indictments that still have to be served.
