Petal man pleads guilty to aggravated assault

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Petal man is now behind bars after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.

Jonathan Hartfield, 39, has been sentenced to 10 years, 5 to serve, 5 suspended.  According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Hartfield brutally beat a 35-year-old man in southern Jones County back in 2012. The victim, who was a resident from Oak Grove at the time, was treated for lacerations and broken bones. According to police, the victim was an acquaintance of Hartfield.
