Bond set for Ellisville fugitive captured in Atlanta, Georgia

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - An Ellisville man who was arrested in Georgia Tuesday had his first appearance in court Wednesday.

Patrick Newell was given bond, $25,000 for each count,

The following is news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department 

On May 29, 2014, Jones County Sheriff Department Narcotic Investigators executed a search warrant on Mesa Drive in Ellisville.  Investigators located and recovered a significant quantity of Illegal narcotics at the residence.  An arrest warrant was issued for Newell, but he could not be located.  His luck ran out when he was captured in Atlanta, GA on unrelated charges several weeks ago.

Lt. Robert Little, remarked, "We were contacted by law enforcement in the Atlanta area, who stated they had Patrick Newell in custody.  Newell was cleared to be extradited back to Jones County where he will face charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with intent to deliver."  Investigators with the Jones County Sheriff Department transported Newell back to Jones County.

Newell will go before a Justice Court Judge Wednesday at 1:00 p.m..
