LEAKE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A woman and two children were killed in a tragic ATV crash on Friday night.

The accident occurred on Highway 25 North in Leake County.

Sarah Eichelberger, of Baton Rouge, was driving her 2009 Acura car when she collided with Lucy Hernandez's Honda ATV.

On the ATV with Lucy Hernandez were two of her children, two-year-old Alicia and 13-year-old Isaiah, also a nephew, 13-year-old Nathan.

There was a second ATV that was carrying two other children of Hernandez's. Diego Hernandez, 6, and eight-year-old Miguel Hernandez were on the other ATV.

McNeill said Diego hit his head in the accident. He was treated and released from Blair E. Batson Hospital on Saturday. Miguel was not injured.

McNeill said the family believes the ATV had mechanical issues. She said the two ATV's were riding along the grassy areas of Highway 25 and somehow Hernandez's ATV pulled into traffic. Apparently when Eichelberger saw the ATV both she and Hernandez pulled back off the roadway together, causing the collision.

Two-year-old Alicia Hernandez is currently at Blair E. Batson hospital in Jackson recovering from an ATV accident that killed her mother, brother and a cousin.

Hospital officials said Monday that she is listed in fair condition.  Family members say she has three broken vertebrae and had bleeding on her brain, but the bleeding has now stopped.

"My Aunt Lucy Hernandez, her second oldest son Isaiah Flores as well as our cousin Nathan Ellinburg were killed," said niece Donna Gheen McNeill.

McNeill said little Alicia has three broken vertebrae and did have bleeding on her brain, but the bleeding has stopped. She has not had to have surgery, but is expected to undergo therapy.

"She has been moved to a regular room now and we're expecting her to make a full recovery," McNeill added.

McNeil said that Isaiah had just gotten out of the hospital a week ago from a ruptured appendix.

Eichelberger was not hurt in the accident.
