HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

About three dozen artists will gather in downtown Hattiesburg this weekend to raise money to help abused or neglected children.

They'll take part in the annual "Quick Draw Charity Art Auction" to benefit the South Mississippi Children's Center.

It'll be hosted by the South Mississippi Art Association and the Hattiesburgers in Paradise and will take place at the Bottling Company.

Organizers began setting up for the event Friday afternoon.

It starts at 1 p.m. Sunday and will feature a live art auction and a silent auction of art and other donated items.

"I think we live in a society now that is not the best in the world for some of our children and we need these children to realize that there are people out there who care," said R.T. Thomas, president of the South Mississippi Art Assn.

The cost to get in is $35, which will cover food and entertainment.
