Central Baptist Church goes 'To-The-Block' to party

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 church is taking its message to the streets.

Members of Central Baptist Church’s Word Campus hosted a “To-The-Block Party” at Cedar Manor Apartments Thursday evening. The church has hosted a block party in a different North Jonesboro neighborhood for three consecutive weeks in an effort to build relationships with each community.

"Instead of always trying to ask them to come to us we felt like it was important that we just picked up our lives and brought our lives to meet their life," said Word Campus pastor Jamar Andrews. "Our first we had right off of Belt Street between Belt and Melrose and the second was just right down the road on Cedar Heights."

He said his church will continue working to build relationships in every part of the city.

"We have decided to invest our life into North Jonesboro. This is not just a time where they see us this one time, we have a good time and we leave. "A lot of times it's about ‘Come and see,’ and we believe the Great Commission is ‘Go and tell,’ and we want to be true to that."

The next “To-The-Block Party" is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Fox Meadow Elementary School.
