Victim of Jackson gang rape sends warning to metro area women

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A 35-year-old woman says she was forced at gunpoint to strip off her clothes at the Shell Gas station and convenience store on Daniel Lake Boulevard. We warn you some of the details of the attack are graphic.

The victim, whose identity we are protecting, said, "He put the gun to my head and told me to take my clothes off.  And that's when I couldn't do nothing. I was just standing there crying. And the other dude came from behind the truck. He put one in my side. And they bent me over in my front seat and they started raping me over and over again."

Attorney and former Hinds County Judge Malcolm Harrison says that Wednesday was the first time his client has left her home since the attack early last Friday morning at the Shell gas station and convenience store on Daniel Lake Boulevard off I-55 South.

Harrison said, "She was raped by three individuals, three males. As best we understand one adult and two juveniles who were taking orders from the adult."

Harrison says he has learned this is not the first attack in this area.

Harrison told us, "We are aware that she was not the only person attacked in the last couple of weeks in this south Jackson area."

Jackson police have not confirmed that information with us.

Harrison also tells us his client was victimized again when, during the attack, no one would call police, not even the store clerk.

Harrison said, "my client begged that the store manager call police after this incident and he did not. He refused to do so."

We went to the Shell Station to try and talk with the clerk. The man working at the store Wednesday told us he didn't know anything and responded that he was sorry.

Attorney Harrison says one witness has come forward.

Harrison told us, "she wanted to get the word out.  She wanted people to know what was
happening and particularly at this particular store how she was treated and how she felt."

Harrison told us someone helped the victim find her keys and she drove herself home and that's when she called for help.

She was taken by ambulance to UMC. She is now working with a rape counselor.
