State Auditor seeks payback of embezzled money from Jerry Warren

COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The State Auditor's Auditors Office has served a demand on former Covington County Fire Chief Jerry Warren for more than $20,000.

Warren was arrested last week and charged with grand larceny. He is accused of embezzling more than $9,000 by making cash withdrawals from two separate accounts dating back to 2009. The State Auditors Office is demanding that Warren pay back the embezzled money, along with interest and cost of recovery.

Warren is currently out of a $5000 bond while he awaits trial on the criminal charges.
