Hattiesburg, Laurel Regional Airport gets new provider

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A new service provider is coming to the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport.

Sky West has signed on to be the new provider starting in November. They will replace Silver Airways. Weekdays, American Eagle will offer two flights a day on a 50-seat jet to Dallas/Fort Worth that will be a shared service with Meridian. There will be one-flight each day on Saturday and Sunday.

Flight schedules and pricing are still being developed.

"We're kind of pleased with American. We're hearing real good things about American and their pricing," said Tom Heanue, Airport Executive Director. We're hoping that they can price somewhere around the $100 to $150 more than Jackson or Gulfport. We believe if they can do that will help travelers come here. By the time you spend the gas and pay for the parking at those other airports, $150 is really not a lot more to pay to leave out of your local airport."

Silver Airways will continue to provide service until the new provider takes over.
