Shots fired in Hattiesburg on Sunday night

According to Hattiesburg Police Department's PIO, Jon Traxler, shots were fired on Sunday night at around 6:40 p.m. at Martin Luther King Drive and Katie Avenue.

Police responded to calls from witnesses who described a man in a vehicle firing shots in the area. Officers apprehended Geremy Gray from his vehicle on the 1200 block of Hardy Street shortly after they received calls. 

According to the incident report, Gray is a 19 year old male. He used a .25 caliber handgun during the drive by, and several spent shell casings were found in the roadway after shots were fired. Officers went on a short foot pursuit before apprehending Gray. 

Nobody was injured, and Gray is in custody at the Forrest County Jail. The investigation is ongoing in this case.

    After losing the first two games of the season by a combined five points, Collins has won 12 consecutive games to advance to the class 2A South State title. The Tigers (12-2) defeated Bay Springs 22-8 on Friday to advance to a south state matchup against Taylorsville (13-1). Collins scored twice in the fourth quarter to overcome the Bulldogs on the road. "I feel great," said Collins head coach Eric Booth, a former USM running back.
