Operation Megabust ties Hattiesburg to drug trafficking organization

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Fourteen people have pleaded guilty in federal court in New Orleans as part of operation mega-busted.

The two year long under cover investigation showed that a heroin trafficking organization led by Byran Evans of New Orleans was responsible for distributing kilogram quantities of heroin and cocaine between Texas and Louisiana with distribution stops in Hattiesburg.

Authorities said the organization is responsible for the trafficking of around 30 kilograms of heroin and cocaine over a two year period.

The Hattiesburg 12-net task force also assisted in the investigation.
