City of Hattiesburg adding speed bumps downtown

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The City of Hattiesburg has announced the addition of three speed bumps to West Front street.

According to Allen McKinely with the City of Hattiesburg, these speed bumps are for pedestrian safety and to slow motorists down in the area.

"The speed bump project is something that we had discussed before in the past…it's something that we'd been looking at making safety for the businesses down town. We get a lot of complaints about speeding so we looked at different things, different areas and the speed bumps are one of the more positive areas we looked at," said McKinely.

The bumps will cost around $2500, and there are no immediate plans to lay anymore in the downtown area at this time, according to McKinely.
