Sycamore Canyon Academy still expecting buses to arrive

ORACLE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - New information today about the group of undocumented minors who are expected to be dropped off at an academy for boys in Oracle. Word has it the minors could be moved to Sycamore Canyon Academy sometime on Friday.

This will be the fourth day that people have been at the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Mt. Lemmon Highway in Oracle.

Protesters are also expected to be at the intersection again today.

Officials with Sycamore Canyon Academy are expected to take in about 45 boys, between the ages of 6 and 14, who will be staying at the academy for 40 days while they are transitioned out and another group moves in.

Since the academy is taking in more boys, they have hired an extra 30 staff members and have signed a multi-year contract.

All of this was made possible after an inspection by the Oracle Fire Chief and a federal permit was issued.  Protesters are expected to be lined up at the intersection, some six or seven miles from the boy's ranch entrance, some time this morning.

An additional group of protesters are expected to be on the south-side in front of the Mexican consulate at noon.  Tucson News Now will have a crew covering the additional protest.
