Innovative Bank Wins Triple Honours.

International Banker held its annual awards acknowledging top banking institutions worldwide. Bank Islam Malaysia received awards in three categories: Best CEO, Customer Service and Islamic Banking.

The first, and most prestigious, award was Banking CEO of the Year, Asia, awarded to Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat (Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad). Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat has been noted particularly for his strong qualities as a leader of the Malaysia based Bank. Noted prominently as a visionary in the region’s banking sector, Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat led the successful turnaround and transformation of Bank Islam from its troubled financial position in 2006 to establish the first Islamic bank in Malaysia. By applying strategic foresight he went on to reprioritise the Bank’s operations to build a successful and stable institution that is now a leader in its sector. He refocused the business of the bank and drove a re- branding campaign that has helped the bank grow further from recovery. The second award was made for Best Customer Service Provider Asia.
