Sunday was move in day for session one at Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp. For over 50 years the camp has hosted a two-week summer camp for people with cognitive disabilities. Founded in 1961 by the late Abbie Rogers, the camp brings campers, counselors and staff together for a week of summer fun. The camp is split into two sessions. This week is for campers two to twenty-one and next week two is for those twenty-one and older. I think sometimes we forget how difficult it is for many of these families to get through their day unaided. Civitan Camp provides these everyday heroes the opportunity to have some great outdoor fun and make new friends. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers and we hope all the campers and their families have a great week.
