Gas prices influence Pine Belt residents' summer travel

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - With soaring temperatures this summer, many Pine Belt residents planned to head to the coast to cool off. But high gas prices dashed the hopes of some.

Most folks explained that gas prices do indeed influence how much and how far they travel. However, the state average is lower than the national average per gallon. AA Fuel Gauge reports that gas prices are on the way down so people will experience some relief at the pump in the days to come.
