SAN FRANCISCO (RNN) - Feel a little twinge of guilt crushing on a recently viral mug shot of felon Jeremy Meeks?
Officer Chris Kohrs of the San Francisco Police Department is the law-abiding, law-enforcing answer to assuage your red-blooded American conscience.
The Hot Cop of Castro Facebook page, a fan page dedicated to Kohrs, opened less than three weeks ago but already has more than 29,000, ahem, admirers of the easy-on-the-eyes officer.
The legend of the hot cop started when San Franciscan ?Mark Abramson? asked him if he could snap a photo of the officer on his bike in the Castro district of town.
“Chris consented, told him to ‘Have a nice day’ and Mark went on his way,” said Hot Cop of Castro page creator Nathan Tatterson.
Abramson posted the photo to his personal Facebook page, which started going locally then regionally viral. Others began recognizing, snapping photos of and otherwise oogling over the Hot Cop of Castro.
“Once people started recognizing Officer Kohrs, they started chatting with him and realized that he wasn't just a pretty face. He was funny, nice, respectful with a huge dose of charm and humility. He also clearly loved his job and the attention he was getting at work,” Tatterson said.
A few weeks later, the Hot Cop of Castro Facebook page was born. And the internet swooned.
“Just in the last 24 to 48 hours, Chris has been on CNN, Good Morning America and CBS News and all over the place … it’s getting overwhelming,” Abramson said.
“He says he gets a lot of ribbing at the police department, but it’s been good natured.”
Korhs says he's been on the force about six years. As for how his family is taking his new found internet celebrity?
"I don’t think my mom and dad know about it. I should probably tell them," he said.
And the burning question - Abramson says Kohrs is single, straight and "exudes charm."
"He’s just a really good person, you can just tell. I don’t see any other side of him," he said.
"I feel like I’m kind of responsible for looking out for him, he’s such a nice guy. I want to make sure this is a good experience for him," Abramson said.
He's been stopped by strangers and asked to take lots of pictures, along with signing a few autographs. Despite the celebrity, don't expect Kohrs to hang up his badge any time soon.
"I’m a police officer and I’ll leave the modeling and acting to the George Clooneys and Brad Pitts out there, the important people," he said. "At this point in time I don’t have an interest in that but I appreciate the offers."
