The Board of Trustees at the Hattiesburg Public School District meeting announced great news for the Tigers baseball team, Tuesday.
The board approved a construction contract to move forward with the renovations of the Smokie Harrington Baseball Park.
The damage was a result of a tornado that struck the Pine Belt in 2013.
For the past two seasons, players have had no home games and with a 365 day construction plan, the board is hoping that students will be able to play during renovations.
"We feel that there will be some things that we can delay and work in different space. We won't have a dressing room and things like that nature, but to be able to use the stands and field for baseball season," HPSD Superintendent James Bacchus, said.
Bacchus added that "kids will be excited to have home field advantage again."
