Hybrid plastics announces expansion

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from Hybrid Plastics

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (July 8, 2014) --- The expansion of Hybrid Plastics manufacturing capacity and workforce will meet the increasing production demand of its line of Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane molecules (POSS) by five times its current volume.

POSS is a chemical that brings ceramic and organic materials to form single molecular composition. The molecules are similar to silicone that reinforces heat resistance and helps improve product performance of standard chemical additives. POSS comes in variety of forms that includes powders, polymer pellets and now liquid.

"We have since introduced this new product line of POSS, and it has been well-received by several industries like personal care, coatings, paints, oils and gas." said president of Hybrid Plastics, Joe Lichtenhan.

Though the current facility was designed to only manufacture POSS in solid forms, the represented top-selling form is liquid. The increased production of liquid POSS will carry benefits for both oil and gas production and national defense.

Hybrid Plastics' expansion represents a multi-million dollar capital investment and will increase employment at the Hattiesburg-based plant up to 30 employees. The project is expected to be complete by the end of this year. The company plans to use Mississippi workers for all phases of construction and engineering.
