Bond set for homicide suspect

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Judge Carol Jones-Russell set a million dollar bond for Michael Sullivan Jr., 21, during his initial appearance Monday in Hattiesburg Municipal Court. Sullivan was charged with murder in connection to the death of Phillip Shane Mattar.

Mattar was found dead in a car behind the New Jerusalem Temple of God off McCall Street in Hattiesburg Saturday. Mattar was a registered sex offender convicted in 2006 for a touching of a child charge.

According to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem, the cause and manner of death showed that Mattar died from multiple sharp force injuries.
